Electronic learning is available in online, DVD, CD-ROM and videoconferencing formats. It is generally employed in distance learning programs. A distance learning program may require proctored exams and some programs have additional on-campus requirements.

1. Pennsylvania State University
Pennsylvania State University (PSU) was 47th in U.S. News & World Report's 2011 ranking of top universities in the nation. The Princeton Review also recognized PSU with a 2nd place ranking for best career services in the 2011 edition of The Best 373 Colleges.
PSU operates its distance learning programs through its World Campus division. Bachelor's and master's degree programs are offered in education, engineering, business, criminal justice and nursing, among others. Available graduate and undergraduate certificate programs include digital arts, weather forecasting and hospitality management. Students take courses online and sit for exams at one of PSU's 24 campuses or with an approved proctor.

2. University of Florida
Approximately 90% of incoming freshmen at the University of Florida (UF) scored above average on standardized exams and 94% return to UF for their sophomore year. UF was named the nation's second best value in public colleges by the Kiplinger Personal Finance magazine in 2010.
UF's Division of Continuing Education offers degree and non-degree distance learning programs through online, video and CD-ROM formats. Many online bachelor's, master's, doctorate and specialist students work full- or part-time and are not first-time college students. Available areas of study include veterinary science, sport management, pharmacy, engineering and environmental science.
